Teacher Bio: Joy Cyr
Joy Cyr has been studying the drums since middle school and has been teaching drum lessons for 10 years.
2007 Drumline Captain – South Walton High School Marching Band and Concert Band
2009 Awarded The Sea Breeze Foundation Music Scholarship from radio station WSBZ
2009-2011 Drumline Instructor at South Walton High School
2016 Toured all of North America as drummer in band SALES
2025-2026 Percussion Instructor at Charleston Charter School for Math & Science
Joy has competed in FMBC, MPA solo and ensemble competitions, as well as local Battle of the Bands in Florida.
Joy is a multi-instrumentalist, she plays the drums, piano, guitar, and bass guitar. She has played festivals, Audiotree live, radio sets and recorded studio drums.

Teaching Philosophy
I love teaching music, I want my students to have the opportunity to play in a rock band, join their High School Marching Band and have fun.
I want my students to feel confident when playing with other musicians, so I think it’s important to learn a variety of drumming styles, techniques, and musical terminology.
Learning to play a musical instrument can lead to a lot of amazing life experiences and friendships.
